- Chapter 22:
Summary: The train from the underworld comes up, crashing into a passenger train.
Haine, Badou, and Naoto visit The Bishop, who has mysteriously "gone out". Nill takes interest in Naoto, who lost a button in her recent battle. Nill decides to fix her clothes, and in the meantime dresses her up in a cute (completely out of character) dress. Nill also seems to be a fan of Cloth Road, another Ultra Jump (clothing-themed) manga. She took up sewing because her benefactor (Haine) keeps getting holes poked through his clothes (for obvious reasons.)
Cutting back to the scene of the train crash, we see that Old Weepy Man Mihai was on the train that was crashed into. The "Hunting Dogs" from the underground train sweep through, killing everyone on the passenger train as they go. Mihai laughs, commenting that even Badou would think this run of bad luck is funny.
The Bishop is on the phone with someone who seems to know about what is going on, and heads over to the scene of the crash.
Badou ribs Haine a bit about his past, and tells him to tell his story about "the underground" and his past...

- Chapter 23:
Summary: The "hunting dogs" from the underground train encounter Mihai, who offers up some resistance to their slaughter.
We cut back to Haine, Badou, Naoto, and Nill at the church. Badou keeps goading Haine into telling the story of his past and his "neck ring".
As a child, Haine woke up in pitch black, and felt heavy all over, like lead. He found a room with lots of other kids, all with metal rings around their neck (just like his) and a very friendly young girl.

- Chapter 24:
Summary: Haine's story of "the underground" continues. None of the kids can remember anything before they woke up. Suddenly, a huge monster appears and starts attacking the kids. Professor Angelica Einstellsehn shows up and shocks the large monster, restraining him temporarily. She says that she is their doctor, and that they should be able to survive heavy blows now because they are all "wonderful weapons". She tells Haine that she'll love him if he can destroy the monster, but Haine is just in shock. He watches as Lilly, the young girl, hops up on the monster's back and rips into its spine, tearing out muscle and sinew with a wicked, twisted smile on her face.

- Chapter 25:
Summary: Two more of the huge monsters show up, and Haine blacks out. When he comes to, the monsters are dead and everyone is bloody.
Back in the present, Badou comments that this all sounds too much like a comic book story. Naoto doesn't care what happened, she just wants to get into the lab. Haine doesn't know how to get back there though.
Back at the site of the train collision, Mihai keeps fighting the ever-increasing hordes of soldiers.
The Bishop shows up (out of breath) and confronts Miss Freuling.

- Chapter 26:
Summary: Bishop has a conversation with Miss Freuling. She says that nobody who has seen her has lived to tell the tale, but the Bishop is not worried about the seeing part. He asks her what her reason is for fighting: the Underground has already lost its best leader of the guard dogs, and their "tiger cub", the "first spine" - recovering them now wouldn't gain them anything. He also says that this war is clearly for "her" sake alone, although Miss Freuling has her own personal agenda of revenge also, it seems.
Mihai gets into a pretty fierce battle, and it looks like he is wounded heavily, but is able to fight his way out of the train and looks like he can keep on going for a while.
Back at the church, there is a tense scene between Haine and Naoto, that Badou somehow defuses by deftly sewing a button back onto Naoto's jacket. Nill is utterly enthralled by the bizarre situation.
The chapter ends with the train apparently shelling the city with a massive cannon that it deployed...
