the preview picture can be always found there. It's kind of weird. Looks like Souhaku has his own (and really creepy) S&M Lab.

First, thanks you for pic.

Second, I just want to point out that they are not hamster wheel.
They look similar to tailoring machine(tool) in East (yes, they were used a long time ago and are less complax then one in the picture. modern tailoring machine also has similar look)
But, it seems to have more wheels. Also, If you look close, there is pedal below a woman's butt.

The design of room has Torture/interrogation theme, but
Most victims are female except heads in the cages.
So, it does give out SM theme.

I just want to know the little girl in the picture.

I just hope that there isn't any SM going on in this chapter.

It is interesting how Oh! great keeps providing us with similarities between Shin and Souhaku. Of course, it could be said that he is doing it unconsciously, with Shin being the villain of the Past arc, and Souhaku being the current villain, but still I think there are parallels. Both are shown to be kind and gentle with their "special" people (Maya and Makiko), but also capable of extreme cruelty and nefarious deeds.

Still, I like Shin's exposition somewhat better, since we got to know what made him tick, while with Souhaku Oh! great is keeping us at a distance, revealing one juicy bit (no pun indeded) after another. In the revised vol. 14 he and Makiko are two lovebirds. Otherwise he is Evil Overlord incarnate.

I feel like Oh! great needs to both humanize and demonize his villains, because it makes us understand them and loathe them at the same time. At least, that's what made Shin to be an excellent antagonist to Mitsuomi, we understood his psyche, his reasons for his actions.

It seems like Oh! great is moving in the same direction with Souhaku (showing unexpected violence and unexpected gentleness from him), but he is being way slower this time. More deliberate, perhaps, as well.

It will be interesting to see if the mangaka pulls another "Enma Enmi" scene on us to shock us and make us feel disgusted with Souhaku, or if it will be tamer.

Tomorrow will show. 8)

Obviously, I missed the "gentleness" part in the volume 14  . I should try to find the revised volume because I didn't really see them as lovebirds, even though I always thought they were really in love (that's what is great with Oh!Great, you don't need big declarations and all that romantic and so boring stuff).

There were no declarations (except on Makiko's part, I guess), but the scene in the field was sweet.

Kinda reminded me the scene when little Maya was putting out the flames and warding off the moths. The insect imagery was used in both scenes, by the way.

Well, censoring Oh Great is not a good idea.
I am sure DC wants to make Ten Ten similar to Vegabond.
But, This is Oh Great. His manga cannot live without "Hentai" work.
And, that is why people still reading TenTen until now.

Still no Raw at this point.
I will post the DD if possible once I get it.

why do I get the feeling Oh! Great is trying to get a new publisher by making chapters completely uncesorable?
Is that little girl Maya? I somehow get a feeling of deja vu when I look at her...

PS. At least the French publisher releases mangas completely uncensored.

I saw the scans and it's true the scene is sweet. And when he told her: "In that case I want to return you to a world where you don't have to be noticed by anyone and can just fly", my heart melted. I always thought he really loved her and the chapter just confirmed it.
They remind me of Maya and Mitsuomi (I love you but I hate you but I can't kill you!)

One thing surprised me though: they seem very young! I mean, how old were they?

(Souhaku looks like Spitfire of Air Gear in this chapter  )

hmm,
Oh! Great does not have a power to get a publisher.
I believe its publishing company in Japan has total power over it.
And, an U.S company just buy copy-right / distribution right and bring to U.S, so if Oh Great (if he has power) or Japanese publishing company trying to take that right away from U.S company, it will cause compex issue.

Even it gets uncesored, this will never gather much attention in U.S.
This manga is a little hard core for manga beginners.
I don't blame U.S publishing company to change bunch of things to PG level from R rate to help selling the series, so it might be loved by new readers while we, hard core readers hate it.

hmm, Mitsuomi and other warrior type guys like to use similar style of "cool" lines, which shouldn't be using in 21st century. Those lines seem to used by characters in middle ages. It does give "cool" themes.

And, Souhaku and Spitfire are similar.
Both guys are surrounded by girls time to time.
And, if there is difference, Souhaku has a lot of political and economic power in the fiction world.
But, Spitfire is a simple hair style list in the fiction world.

I'm glad to know that I didn't imagine the similiraties between them. I thought Spit was pretty famous as a hair stylist and had money (ok it's doesn't give any political influence but it's still useful I think).

And this is the difference between Tenjou Tenge and Air Gear.

In TJTG, the badass villain is the immortal overlord with near devilish ingenuity and near infinite mystical powers.

In AG, the badass villain is the cute blonde bishie who cuts hair and does the pyrotechnical bells-and-whistles stunt.

You might say that Spitfire isn't really a villain, he's just a powerful guy on top... Well, you might be right, AG doesn't really have villains, because it doesn't really have a plot. But why bother over such minor details as plot? 8)

Since Air Gear is a sport manga it makes sense that it doesn't have a solid plot but more of a "general goal" and no vilains, just rivals. Much like Hajime No Ippo, Air Gear is about becomimg the best at what you do.

What I meant about Oh! Great was that I had the feeling that they were making chapters the publisher couldn't release because they were to full of "offensif" material. This way the publisher would be forced to break the contract and Oh! Great could get an new deal with a more liberal publisher.

LOL  Sadly, it's true. there's no villains and even the most powerful guys of the manga don't seem to mind Ikki's becoming King of Sky. I mean, the guy sucks, he's not totally stupid but we can't say he's very intelligent either and everyone seems to think that it's totally normal that he becomes King.

Same thing for the plot... basically, it's Ikki learning a new movement, Ikki meeting a King (but nothing comes out of this meeting of course!), Ikki's meeting a new girl, Ikki going higher.

Since the manga is a shônen for teenagers, I guess the plot is not that essential

That's the only problem I have with Oh!Great's mangas: I don't like the heroes of the manga (fortunately, the other characters have taken much more importance in Tenjou Tenge... I don't think it will be the same for Air Gear).

The problem is that it's translated in France and they tend to rush translations to deliver the mangas ASAP after they are released in japan. The translation process in general is rather weak which is why I prefer to get the fan translated version then the printed one. Kenshin, Hunter X Hunter and Samurai Deeper Kyo are all mangas I used to buy 'till a Japenese girl at my school told me the translations were way off. Turns out getting what you paid for doesn't apply to manga...

Edit: Raw is out! get it at tokyo toshokan. Page 2 is all sorts of freaky. Good news on the Maya front: Souhaku seems to be able to revitalise the dead(which seems to be what he did to Tetsuhito) and his power might be used to help Maya, at least that's what I think the sword said to Aya.

I do concurr... And to precise the bubblegum point, the french editor (who is actually italian, in fact  ) had only a few translators for a maximum of editions...
Tenten has been massacred and until the volume 8, the translation is pretty abyssimal...

well seems just because you are a member of the founding families doesn't mean they can't kill you.damn liked that guy 2.

whats up with the fat bastard jeez, sleeping with what seems to be women and just moves to another when one dies.

sho haku has the ability to lord over the dead thats why tets looked so old.The more that is known about him the more it seems like sho haku is the same one working from the beginning.

Hmm, so Souhaku's dragon type is: ç„°
which translates as flame, blaze

means he has power to control death. He's also the only member of the Kago family - ie he's been alive the whole time and it's more like it's "his" power and the "Kago family's" power.

By showing dead Tetsuhito shows that Tetsuhito was kept young by Souhaku. And Aya thinks to herself that this ghost wants to suggest that this is how Maya could be revived.

Meanwhile, the dragon-gate that girl has it's Amaterasu's!!
I wonder how freaky these fights are going to get.

hmm,
Thanks for DD

This is great chapter.
Cannot believe baldy died.
I thought he is a normal one among those 4 freaks.

Again, Sohaku's true occupation = Necomancing SM King.
Dark boss of Hentai world.

Oh Great should make a new hentai manga just with Sohaku about his daily activities. I am sure it will be on the best selling list Japan.

So, 12 Main family failed to kill Sohaku in the past.
I wonder what will happen to Aya and Nagi especially Aya.

And, that girl has special dragon gate.
I wonder she will show up in the future.

Wow, what a cool chapter. That more than made up for last month's actionless chapter. Love Aya's kunoichi getup, rowwwrr, oh wait she's 9...uh can I still find her hot? Man that fat guy is disturbing, are those girls the same ones at the end of the chapter surrounding the monk? Finally we get some background too, yay I was right about Sohaku and Tetsuhito being old. I'd gloat more if I could remeber where I predicted that but it was so long ago I really don't feel like looking it up. And please tell me they explain Sohaku's gate, that pattern thing looks familiar anyone know what that is? It still reminds me of onmyodo.

Mmmm.... kunoichi....

Looks like Kabane is the only survivor of the temple fire, and he now wears the skulls of his comrades. Weird.

And we finally find out what Kago's Dragon is. He can bring things back to life. Which is not all that unexpected, in retrospect, as he should be paired up with Hotaru, who heals injuries and illnesses. But then why is there a magickal array when he uses his dragon gate? None of the others have that when they use their powers. Also, it seems that Kago really does have paedophilic tastes...

Yagyu Yoshikatsu was the eldest son of Yagyu Muneyoshi, a retainer of Tokugawa. I couldn't find much else on Yoshikatsu other than that he was crippled in battle and could not inherit leadership of either the Yagyu clan or the Yagyu Shinkage swordstyle, which went to one of his brothers, and later, Yoshikatsu's son.

That fat bastard scene is, like, the most revolting I've seen in this manga, and that's saying quite a lot ...

And is it just me, or does that dart-firing fugly dwarf look like a fugu?

hmm,

It will be time saving.

So far, Ten Ten is the most famouse one.
Bastard used to be top but I think many core fans also gave up the manga or they don't read manga any more.

Most chineses scan group also only deal TenTen only, so trying to find the ultra magazine issue is hard.

yea, the odds of nagi ending up with his power is looking very good at this point. I see no way of him "not" using it on maya if he does get it. Unless we learn it has some serious draw back, but it does not look like it does.

even if Souhaku takes nagi over, he may still revive maya if he goes back for kagiroi. he would probley figure there may still be a use for her some way or another.

Yeah so far it seems like an almost god-like power, obviously Tetsuhito was no zombie, though it's possible he never died a first time but was just kept young like Souhaku. Of course you're all assuming Maya is dead, but we haven't seen that confirmed...yet. This chapter just opens up a whole new set of questions about Souhaku for me, how was he ever beaten and kept in check this whole time? Being that powerful and having forever to plan or wait for his enemies to die, I can't wait to see how he gets beat. Im assuming past Aya beats him and uses Reiki to do it, there has to be a reason he's afraid of Reiki, and why Dougen and the Maya and Aya's dad were such good friends, maybe the Natsumes kept Souhaku in check. Of course that doesn't explain why he just left Reiki, Aya and Maya alone when he had Shin kill his parents, hmmm.

Posted: Tue Mar 21, 2006 1:45 pm
by Sleepy Weasel
my guess is past aya fails. but comes so close to beating him, or thinks she beats him and he goes into exile for a time.

I do not think aya would have "really" won in the past or else he would not be around today. Its obvious the past Souhaku is the same one currently present today.

ghost aya is most likely taking aya back to show her where she screwed up, so aya can correct the mistake in the future.

Rather than taking over Nagi through the ritual or having another convulted plan laid out for completion after his supposed death, it would be terribly amusing if there are no side effects of the ritual Nagi is about to undergo.

Instead, Shohaku might just be expecting his son to resurrect him with his new Kago powers.

The possiblity that Shohaku might not have any contingency plan to bring him back to life other than counting on Nagi's possible affection for him is to simplistic not to be funny.
