Preview shows what looks like a theoretical scene with Aya, Masataka and Madoka enjoying everyday life.
Wow a new chapter already, I guess there won't be a break this Fall like usual.

Time goes so fast.
Another chapter again.

I just hope someone upload chapter soon.

Anyway, finally present, I hope to see the fusion of Nagi X So Haku.
It is going to be fun. I think OG will show us few scenes, or at least one scene with Nagi X So Haku. If not, it is sin towards fans. another month is too much pain.

Well, I think Nagi X Sohaku will come back before the fight between Mitsuomi team and Nagi X Sohaku team. I don't know how Mitsuomi will react after he realizes that Sohaku is still alive and kicking inside of Nagi.

And, I think there will be new characters at the Sohaku's side.
I don't think Inoue will join the Nagi's team because she is too old.
I think there will be new 4 characters at evil side. (I think 5 man team right?)

will Aya, Shyoujyoy, and Kabane team up with Bob and Masataka?

I think Mistuomi team formation should be :
Mitsuomi, Ishiyumi (one with arrow), , Tagami, Tawara, Isuzu Emi.
I think OG should replace fat girl (emi) and idiot with stick (tagami), and replace them with new character with some skill.

Nice... Too bad the image probably has absolutely nothing to do with the plot, but we can wish. 8)

BTW, since we are on the issue of Tenjou Tenge. Check this out:

Image

This is an image from the special issue of the manga Kochikame, that has had a 30th anniversary recently. So, all famous Japanese mangaka (like Kishimoto, Oda, Kubotite and Oh! Great) did a little fanart in respect to Kochikame.

I found Oh! Great's to be quite funny. 8)

Maya and Aya: So, are accepting our challenge, veteran?
Reiko (Kochikame character): Huh?
Maya and Aya: We lost! T_T
Isuzu: I'll... I'll try next.

(if you didn't get it, it's a joke about breast sizes ). 8)

More like they want to finish up TenTen as quickly as possible to focus on other projects.

mmm,
OG might might want to finish tenten soon.
Really, it started a long time ago.

But, Ten ten is so famous, so Editor at Ultra jump might want to continue the manga for another year or two. anyway, 1 year of ultra jump = 12 chapter. OG should end Tenten with great ending with good details. I don't think he will make crappy ending because he put so much time on this manga. from my perspective, OG needs at least 6-8 more chapters for good ending .

But, I think editors at Ultra jump want TenTen to go on longer.
If they cancel Tenten, some tenten fans will stop reading the magazine.

Anyway, only thing OG will do, is making hentai comics if Tenten cancels.
I think he pulled one hentai manga (yellow star) while doing both ten ten and air gear. well, he might do more than one , but I would rather stay with Tenten than other hentai comics.

OK, Nagi's and Aya's (I almost mistook Aya for Shizuru!) new look is very weird. If it weren't for the quality of art, I'd say someone stood in for sensei.

The good thing is that stuff is moving somewhere.

Wow, Nagi finally got a (much needed) haircut. Even though Aya called out his name, I actually thought that I was seeing Ishiyumi wearing an eyepatch—but then, that just didn't make any sense. I wonder how he would look in his exorcist form now.

Also, what the hell really happened back when Inue placed that eye on Nagi? I was actually surprised that he's still training with the other Jyuukenbu members. The last part of this chapter intrigued me, that's for sure.

Just a guess, but I think Inue put Souhaku's eye in Souichirou and they are shielding it the same way Makiko was shielding her demon.

BTW, did anyone notice how everyone on the Takayanagis' side wears stylized crosses in their clothes? Mitsuomi has them on his armbraces and chest, Tagami has some on his pants, Kabane has a cross-patterned tie and Shoujou wears a cross on her neck.

Is it something like the symbol of the Enforcement Group?

WTH??? First I hate Aya new haircut, damn you OG. Second What we don't get to see how anything happened? Where's Inue? Where's Shizuru and Ishiyumi? So Kabane and Shyoujou are with Mits? And Mits and his dad are back together? And is it Aya supressing Souhaku for Souichiro with the dragon's eye? How long can she keep that up? Where's shouki I need his breif synopsis.

Hmm interesting, good eye P. Maybe OG added another subtle layer like Christians vs traditional Japanese(the Jyuukenbu) Japan is one of the few countries where Christianity hasn't been able to gain a major foothold. Though it's probably more of a style thing like most manga and anime uses of crosses (it looks cool) it doesn't even have to be Christian, heck most bikers and even the Nazi's wore all kinds of crosses.

It looks like a few days have passed by since the last chapter. And that one was somewhat of a cliffhanger too! Man, this manga sure likes to keep it secrets.

What I was hoping to see was more Makiko. After all the stuff that happened with Souhaku and her son now sporting an eyepatch, one would at least expect her inclusion in this chapter in one way or another. She probably could've revealed some interesting info about Nagi's (new) eye. Well at least we see Maya.

*sigh* Waiting for next month to arrive. Again.

I did like this chapter because we got in touch with the usual gang and the story has moved forward towards the already shaping conclusion in a couple of volumes.

I didn't like this chapter because it flashforwarded by abbandoning all the promised cliffhangers. I can forgive the omission of S&K and Makiko, but the fact that everything from Inue's interaction with Nagi was omitted is simply unforgivable. It just makes the story disjointed and badly paced.

So, in my opinion, this was a pretty good chapter. Just done in a completely wrong way.

That was my major problem with it. I want to know just how Nagi got out of there. That's the biggest question on my mind anyway. Despite that, It's been awhile since I've enjoyed a chapter this much.

I can only describe how I felt. I don't in any way expect others to feel the same - after all, these things are subjective.

However, I got zero enjoyment from this chapter, apart from the first few pages.

I've given up on manga series before (I've read an awful lot so it's not surprising), but that's always been because I felt the author had run out of ideas or similar - ie over a period of months. But in this case, I've gone from "can't wait to see!" to "can't even bear to look" between one chapter and the next. I'll download the chapter onto my home computer tomorrow morning and look through it again, but if I don't feel any different, and I don't feel any better from the next one, I'll have to give up on the series - I can't make myself like something and I'm not a masocist.

I'm sure this is surprising to others here - it's surprising to myself as well.

ok, I know my memory is not the best.. but why do I feel like I have missed an entire chapter?

its like "omg here comes the near end" in last chapter to.. no end, boom here is every day life back to normal... wtf.

what happened to nagi?, who got maya out?, where is reki now?, what happened to inue?, how did aya even get to nagi?, etc etc..

this has got to either be a dream of Aya's to how she wants everything to be, or OG ran out of time and had to throw something togeather so quick, he just skipped ahead abit and plans on going back in yet another flash back.

the character art does look... off, its either hastly drawn or something else is going on. I know the art has changed sense the first chapter, but it has always goten better. this looks to be a step back imo.

only bad thing about this all is ten ten volumes are normally 6 chapters long. this is the 5th chapter in vol 16 :(

Same here. What we all wanted to know about the most at this point has been skipped over. Another month, another chapter.

As MrProphet said, at least the story is moving—but dear god, hopefully if there's going to be flashback about what happened between Inue and Nagi, it wouldn't be too long.

I assume you're referring to my first post in this thread. Obviously at time of writing, I'd only seen the single page preview, so my best guess was that it was a kind of stand-alone title shot and not part of the story but I was wrong.

Actually, it's probably best I edit that post a bit...

As far as the new looks go:

Aya's hair may be ugly, but atleast she looks less generic now. And I'm not sure but I think Chiaki got a breast reduction. Didn't they used to be ridiculously big like the others?

Nagi looks...normal. I like it. Although, Oh Great was just starting to draw his hair better with the "Hiei look" complete with headband.

Well, it just seems like it. Every female character got some breast reduction in varying degrees with some losing more inches than the others. Oh! Great's style changes as time passes by, so things just became a bit more realistic.

I believe that breasts are variable objects when it comes to Oh! Great. They change to fit the times. Sometimes, extremely rapidly change. (Maya, for instance, clearly has some control over this in her Chibi form.)

Actually, if the eye had not been removed, why would Soichirou need to wear an eyepatch? But if it had been removed, what was that scene all about? :? Is Souhaku still inside his kid even though the eye is gone?

And regarding Aya's hair, it's obviously intended to resemble her ancestor's. Perhaps it's her way of paying homage. Or perhaps Ancient Aya was really popular among the Japanese readers and sensei wanted to somehow 'keep her around'.

Regarding this chapter: I think it highly unlikely that Oh! Great would just abandon things like this. Perhaps it would be clearer by the next couple of chapters why he chose to tell the story this way. Anyway, it looks like a couple of weeks has passed since the previous chapter.

That's what I got, he told it this way for a reason, and that's what it seems to me Souhaku is in Nagi but something/one(Aya) is suppressing him, and that weird dragon looks like Makiko's eye, does that mean Souhaku did try to put himself in her at one time too? Weird. And I really don't understand the complaints a couple months ago alot of people wanted it back to the tournament and Bob back etc etc, well thats what we got now, the tournament is on.

Well, if Souhaku made Makiko go through the same thing as her son went through in the present because of their Dragon Fist, then maybe he finally accomplished what he was aiming for with Souichirou?

Also, I'm not sure if Aya was using her Dragon's Eye to see Souhaku appearing, or if she was using it to suppress him. Souichirou also doesn't seem to realize what just happened to him, whereas Aya doesn't even show any significant signs that she's shocked or surprised. I wonder if the others know? They seem to treat him as if he's still the same person so far.

As for the complaints, I think people are more unsatisfied with the fact that we don't see how the scene between Inue and Souichirou turns out. Next chapter might be a different story though. Maybe.

Perhaps all he wanted was all the powers in one body and the Dragon Fist couldn't steal his gate, so maybe he "gave" Nagi his gate.

I think Aya's using The Dragon's Eyes to see Souhaku's soul/power that remained in Nagi, his Dragon Fist could have stolen Souhaku's power and since his power is part of him he still partialy exist inside Nagi (even if the eye is out). Souhaku either wanted to congratulate Aya on her victory (gracefull loser) or claim he'll be back again(sore loser).

Then again Aya could be "sealing" Souhaku by activating the Dragon's Eyes and draining his ki everytime he tries to emerge, since her power can drain unlimitted ki she could keep him in check by weakening him to the point he's unable to overpower Nagi's soul.

All I can say is that Souhaku has made the greatest reappearance for any "villain" ever, even if it was for a slight time. 141 - 144.

And on another note, for as long as I've been reading this manga, I know Mitsuomi's all supercharged with ki, explaining his size, but Jesus Henry Christ, he's a giant compared to Masataka!

Posted: Wed Sep 20, 2006 3:07 pm
by MrProphet
We were assuming that Souhaku took Makiko's eye in order to imbue Tetsuhito with all of her stolen Dragon Gates, however it does seem likely that he was also planning to insert himself in her body.

There are several problems with that, namely Reiki's assertion that all of the powers are stored in the eye, but that seems to have been overruled by the fact that Inue took Nagi's eye out and it doesn't seem like his powers are gone. At least, there has been no indication of that.

And if Souhaku has been willing to spend years as a dog, I am sure that he was quite willing to spend some time as a woman as beautiful as Makiko. 8)

You dont live that long and just up and give your power over to someone who hates you. For what ever reason inue/shouhaku did it was to benefit himself only.

OG either wants to end this series very quickly. Or has some grand sceme planded out that he will explain next volume though flash backs and stuff.

Especially for one whose death was so anticlimactic. Souhaku's probably gonna sit back and chill out until the tournament hits, then he'll strike.

As far as flashbacks go, I doubt he's gonna do another one of a great length like he has before. Hopefully half a chapter'll be used to explain the little time jump that apparently happened. Maybe Aya killed Inoue (not likely though)!

The act of "draining ki" seems to be something along the lines of the Dragon's Fist when you think about it. If I'm not mistaken, the DF has the ability to gather unlimited ki, (hence it can "steal," "eat," and take away the gates of others,) whereas the DE is able to use unlimited amounts of it. Someone please correct me if I understood this the other way around.

He still has his other eye. Does that count?

Moreover, by going with this line of thinking then what should've happened is Souhaku's powers being passed on to Nagi. However what we have here is some event hinting that Souhaku himself is within Nagi. Is the story trying to say that the eye contains the consciousness of a person as well? Because if that is so, then how do we explain Makiko's eye on Tetsuhito? Or does this have something to do with the Kago Gate, whatever it may be?

Posted: Wed Sep 20, 2006 6:09 pm
by MrProphet
Judging by the events of the Ancient Arc, Kago Souhaku's identity does indeed recide solely in his eye, as improbable and fantasyesque as that sounds.

I've reread the parts of Volume 14 dealing this this matter and Souhaku clearly states that Makiko's eye is not the source of the Dragon Gate, it is only the "storage" point through which he has extracted the Dragon Gates Makiko has collected.

So, apparently, without the ritual they've performed, the eye does not really matter, so Nagi's loss of an eye is essentially just a question of losing a body part. Souhaku eye is the essense of his immortality and his Dragon Gate, which does not hold true for both Nagis.

Whether Nagi stole Kago's Dragon Gate when he attacked him with Madoka does not really matter, since Souhaku's gate is stored in his eye, thus, once the eye passes from one body to another, the Dragon Gate goes with him.
