I've updated all character pages through chapter 100. You can now sort all the character using the table column headers.

Please take a look at the "all characters" page:

http://tjtg.mangatranslation.com/charac ... cters.html

and the characters page for the latest Ultra Jump chapters:

http://tjtg.mangatranslation.com/charac ... cters.html

If you would like to submit character portraits I would really appreciate it.

I'm looking for character portraits for characters that do not have them (that are interesting enough to make them for anyway) - particularly people from the Ancient Arc. (Sort by name, and they will all float to the top.)

Character portraits can be any size, but maybe 400px across or so would be good.

If there is any interesting biography information for a character that would be nice too.

I just like having these lists, it is interesting to see which characters pop up and die out over time, and which ones stick around.

That Taxi Driver for instance. :)

Appears as as young woman but is actually a 9 year old girl. Seems to have a mastery over the Dragon eye the present Aya does not, probably aided by Reiki which she carries around with her.

Appears to not only be able to change his own appearence but that of others too, as well as use Reiki to copy the skills of other people.

I'll leave the ones kk1 posted to him and will provide images and descriptions for the rest.

I will only do the ones that have no images on the character page.

Many thanks to kk1 and Mr.Prophet - the characters pages are looking great.

I've got to remember to add in the info about the new characters introduced this chapter. :)

Also, I've updated GMAO so that now you can properly sort on the "First Appeared" column. That's pretty cool - now all the guys that showed up recently and need information are easy to find. :P

I need to figure out how to make the default sort work right though. Since I'm using this DHTML table sorting method, it always sorts the characters on the first table column (Image) when it is done loading. Sorting on image doesn't even MEAN anything!

Has character portraits and my brief descriptions for the more recent characters. Any updates from people with character descriptions (who are some of those people?) are welcome.

FuguTabetai (would it be proper to call you Fugu-Dono?),

I am looking over the character list now, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help out fill in some of the blanks. I just finished re-reading all 103 chapters, and as soon as my brain cools off, I will go back and see what details I can provide.

I did want to mention that it appears that the "Ghost" character, who resembles Aya (sans clothing, naturally ), is actually the embodiment of the magic sword Reiki. I came to this conclusion from the dialog on page 56 of volume 15, just before the "ancient arc" began and had everyone reaching for the Excedrin bottle.

Just a guess, however... !

hello swordfish II. As for that "ghost" character, you might be right. I don't really know. For a while I thought it was Makiko, then some past ancestor, maybe Reiki... I think Oh! Great just likes drawing some hot nekkid people every once in a while.

Any character bios or portraits that you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Fugu-dono,

I have started going through the existing list of all characters. To begin, I took the entire contents of the existing page and pasted it into a Microsoft Word document to do my edits and additions. About this task, I have a couple of questions.

1) What is the best way to deliver these updates to you? Can I submit the MS-Word doc to you, or would you rather I post them here? While pictures and new character descriptions would easily work as posts here on this thread, there are other characters who have existing descriptions that I have expounded on or otherwise revised, and it would be easier to just mark the new text in red with the old in strikeout. Same goes for typos and the like. I can certainly do all of this in HTML as well; it just takes a bit more time.

2) Some characters appear more than once, for example, Inue Noriko Shindayuu and Kagiroi Tetsuhito, who appear in the manga both in the ancient arc as well as the present day. Would it be a good idea to combine these, with both "past" and "present" images?

Thanks,

SF2

Hello SF2. I generate the character lists automatically from the data in my XML translation files. The character descriptions can take standard HTML markup, but since they flow into a table cell, I keep it pretty basic.

I can open word files, so that would be fine. Each entry can only have one picture associated with it, and I decided to keep together characters that appear in the past and present arcs. Currently my program only takes one picture for each person, but I generally have multiple pictures around, so I decide which one is used. I think one picture per person is fine, since that is usually enough to figure out who people are.

You can either email your word document, or post it here. Either way I'll be doing a bit of cut-and-pasting. I would be surprised that you have to use much formatting, since I've mostly just gone with bold text and line breaks so far.

Anyway, any updates are appreciated.

Fugu*,

I have a version of my revisions doc in MS Word format ready to send to you; this is by no means everything, but does have some new images, bios, typo fixes, marked duplicates, etc., which will give you something to go on as I continue my work. Of course, if you want to wait until I get it all done, that's OK too, but I thought a piecemeal approach might work better.

Should I zip this up and email it to you? If so, is FuguTabetai@gmail.com the right address?

Cheers,

SF2

* A buddy of mine who speaks some Japanese suggested that, seeing as you live in NYC, you'd probably prefer if I left off the "-dono"... :)

I live in Tokyo. I don't need any honorifics on my name; I'm a fish, I'm not Japanese, and I'm American anyway so anything else is just pretentious.

I would prefer to wait until you get everything done. I'm very busy with work until after the NTCIR workshop that I'm heavily involved with is over (mid-May) so I probably wouldn't have the time to go at things as they come in.

You can email me at that address above, or preferably fugu at this domain.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing the updates!

fugu,

Just a quick post to keep you updated on my work on the character list; I am still working on the project, and I do have quite a bit done already. The work is going well, but not as quickly as I had intended -- my job has kept me much busier than anticipated over the last couple of weeks.

So stay tuned, and with any luck I will have my revisions done by the end of this month.

Cheers,

SF2
