"Garoden" is a pioneering martial-art fight novel by bestselling Japanese genre writer, Yumemakura Baku, and an entertainment classic still read ten years after its first publication. More than a mere illustrated version of the novel, the "Garoden" manga has hinted at wider manga potential in its bold adaptation of the original. Fighter Tamba Bunshichi takes on the strongest men from karate, wrestling and judo in the first manga to successfully recreate the hot excitement of fight world. Said to be one of the finest fight comics ever, "Garoden" is popular with Japan's many fight fans.

Keisuke Itagaki is the creator of the Baki The Grappler manga. He's also the artist (not the writer) of this manga. I don't like his art at all, but Baki is actually a fun read.

I saw a Ga-Ro-Den manga in my local manga shop, unfortunately, it was only a guidebook... Sigh.
