Whats Up with Nagi's Hair

Anyone willing to answer my question, i recently discovered the manga tenjo tenge and i was wonder, whats up with nagi's hair. At first i saw him in an advertisment with messy down hair, i start reading and hes got a v shaped hair cut, and i have seen pic with him having short short hair. someone please fill me in thank you
