I find that, of the Japanese newspapers with English language websites, Mainichi seems to be more sensational in the type of stuff it reports, particularly the Wai Wai section

Well, I'm only half joking. I too read the article and chuckled.
I guess when I chose a manga to translate that I described as: "Girls, swords, and panties, what more could you want?" I was just asking for it.

Tying someone up and tickling them does not strike me as being particularly exciting.

Ahh, Mainichi...
I wonder just how accurate their news is. They even have a disclaimer regarding the accuracy of the articles that are featured. Definitely not the first place to go if you want Japanese news in English...but still, it's the only one that can make me chuckle.
All of a sudden, that part with Asshat tickling Madoka gains a new meaning.
