Updated Characters pages, looking for portraits

Post by FuguTabetai »

Hi all,

I've updated the characters pages over on tjtg.mangatranslation.com. I have complete lists for characters from volumes 1-(the upcoming)13 and a list of all characters at: http://tjtg.mangatranslation.com/charac ... cters.html

If anyone wants to make better portraits for characters, or a new one for ones that don't have them, that would be super cool.

I also fixed some spellings, and tried to make names as canonical and full as possible.

Just looking at these portraits...

Does Oh!Great draw some awesome characters or what!
So many faces yet each with distinct characteristics and beautifully designed, too.

nice, thanks everyone. Would it be possible to remove the backgrounds (like most of the characters on the list currently?)

I'm a bit busy to do anything with this now, but will make some updates in a few days.

Hey Fugu, I cleaned up the images with the simple backgrounds, but I didn't do the other ones because they're complicated and would take a lot more time, like the Aya one. Also, are semi nude pictures allowed on that page? I didn't like most of the pictures of Aya which I'd browsed through in the last couple volumes, but there was this good overall shot for Aya, but she's in her underwear.

She's also in the latest chapter, Banorac.

In chapters 81 and 82, Shizuru is the one with a piece of cloth wrapped around her head--which is probably all bruised and cut up because Inue forced her to kick herself.

Don't tell me you can't remember her... She was pantless when she appeared for the first time.

Kamura Shizuru AKA Pantless Girl appeared in chapter 79 of vol. 13.

I said Pre-Inue, because that's the picture of her before Inue's spell started working on her. She is now walking around with a rag across the damaged face.

Man, I hope she doesn't stay that way... She is hot. 8)

Because I don't distribute scans of Tenjo Tenge here. I do have Tenjo Tenge up on the web for myself so I can translate using other computers though.

@ kujoe and MrProphet :

thanks, but I don't have any scans, raws, UJ's or mangas after volume 11, because that one only just came out in French :)

So, it's normal I don't remember her ;)

I wanted to get peoples opinions of this image I coloured, this seems like the most appropriate place to post it without starting a new topic:

Quite nice, but do we know that Kamura Shidzuru's hair is green? I imagined red myself, for no real reason...

Well, I have to right :)

Not bad on the colouring :)

Don't colour things in full black though ;)

Better of using a really dark blue/red/green/...

Nice choice of colours for the skin, the difference isn't too high, not too low :)

I prefer the painted look though :

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/16209515/

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/14839837/ ( jsut did the colours on this one )
:)

EDIT : just realised you used a completer version to colour ....

And she's not wearing any underpants  :D

the gimp is an excellent open source imaging tool which I feel is on par with photoshop, alot companies in industry use it:

www.gimp.org

it is released under a gpl license, which makes it free to everyone the gnu project was started to develop an open source operating system (linux)

The Gimp is quite nice. That is what I usually use when I need to do some image editing.

Realy great stuff with all the site links and so on. *aplauding* 8)

But what I miss is a little character description like 1 or to sentences about each character.

The list is automatically generated from the XML files of the translations that I've made. I've been meaning to add a "Character description" element to the XML files so you could provide a description of each character for each volume. Then the list would have descriptions for each character per volume (so you can see how they have changed.)

I just haven't had the time to code up this functionality. It is on the list of things to do though.

If someone wants to start a topic with character descriptions, that would be cool. Might be a motivating factor for me (I'm pretty busy trying to get things in order to defend my phd in May though.)

I've made character lists for Volumes 14 and (the currently running) 15.

I've also updated the main "all characters" list. If anyone has any new portraits or information to contribute, that would be great. Links for the lazy:

Volume 14: http://tjtg.mangatranslation.com/charac ... cters.html

Volume 15: http://tjtg.mangatranslation.com/charac ... cters.html

I know it's not the right subject but maybe you can find some good stuff here.
Moreover seeing someone color some tenten manga I thought you would like to check some other tenten color ( click the link (me))

Moreover a friend did a color of maya :

and a whole page :

Just for fun, the "all characters" page is now dynamically sortable, although I'll need to zero-pad the "First Appeared" field to make it actually useful. Right now you can only do proper sorts on the name and number of pages fields, but if I zero page the volume numbers, "First Appeared" should work correctly as well.
