Yes. The 'wings' are designs on his outfit. I swear, he dresses like such a man-stripper these days...Is that Mitsuomi in the background? Why does he look like he just got crucified?
I remember back when he was such a sweet innocent boy...

Definetly like it, and interesting to say the least on the appearance of how Maya looks, almost is if the cover is trying to give a "hidden message"

Great cover!
Maybe Oh!Great just wants us to think that Maya died?
If she died that would be bad for us (the fans), but Oh!Grat would gain a lot of my praise. Maybe It's weird but I like authors who aren't afraid to kill their important characters if needed (or if such was their plan) without caring about fans response. It's nothing worse than characters being miraculously saved from death again and again (like in Naruto).

Naruto is an extreme case, though.
But you're right. Might have been hard but at least Gaara should have died now.All the others which survived their deadly wounds I can connive, but that was crap.
The difference between Naruto and TenTen in this case though is that Shin already died, well he was no good guy but that doesn't count. AND the others until now weren't in a Situation jet where they were near death (if I remind correct)
So if she would servive it wouldnt leave a bad taste as it did with Gaara in Naruto.

People... this is a cover for VOLUME 14. Of course Maya is alive in it.
I don't know where you've been getting the thought that the cover is telling us something about future events or is foreshadowing something, but can you please stop and think about the plot of volume 14 and the fact that the cover symbolises NOTHING beyond what happened in volume 14?
Wooh... that was long. But really now!

naruto and bleach are more general manga pg 13 types too much death is bad for business
tenjo tenge is a teen manga and the death count isnt very hign comparing it to something like gantz
come on if u live 20 pages in gantz u're a hero

Aww, what's wrong.. Prophy will be sad if Maya dies.. don't worry she wont be really dead.. pencil, paper, and a little ink and she'll be re-drawn good as new.MrProphet wrote:People... this is a cover for VOLUME 14. Of course Maya is alive in it.

Now that I see the larger pic, Mits just looks too weird in that pic especially his weirdly proportioned arms.Natsume Maya wrote:Larger pic:
Just skimmed through volume 14.
WOW... what the hell? Oh!great changed A LOT of images, and if I am not mistaken, some of the story. Chapters 82 and 83 were redrawn extensively, and there were additional scenes during Maya/Kagiroi fight.
Young Mama Nagi and young Souhaku were very cute together.
Cool. I hope someone will actually translate the tankoubon as well.
In the meantime, I am uploading it to http://www.mrprophet.com/temp/tjtg14.zip Check it out.
PS The extra artwork is: Nagi cover, Isuzu cover (from another UJ) and a new Nagi insert. The comic is cute, as usual.

Whoo! The volume's much better than the monthly releases. When I was reading the UJ chapters I always felt they're a bit out of place and that there was something missing (now maybe it'll be a better read...judging by the images story "flows" in a better way). The pinups are absolutely gorgeous (especially the one with Maya, Aya & Isuzu) and I really need to get that alternative cover cause it's absolutely gorgeous.
New additions to the volume itself are quite amazing - Maya vs Tetsu-guy fight was improved (didn't check that, but it seems longer). Young Makiko/Souhaku part is also nice. I also like the drawing of the characters as puppets.
I guess I know what I'll be ordering next from Japan

wasn't there a note by oh great in chap 88 saying he had revised volume 14. but did not want to ever do it again?
btw.. wow.. he really did change a ton of stuff, its like at least a whole new chapter. I wonder if he changed the story a bit. I noticed on the new panels maya did not seem to be in anywhre near as bad as shape as the original version (until the end of 87 at least).
and very nice scans MrProphet!

I liked the panel where the characters are represented as marionettes, pulled by the unseen arms (of Souhaku, I presume). The way Oh!great drew them could somewhat indicate his attitude toward the characters, but there are also mysteries.
Aya is dressed as a Queen (yeah, a drama queen). Nagi is the Court Jester (obviously). Masataka is dressed as the Pope (alluding to his celibacy?)
Bob is somewhat of a mystery. He has some kind of a poncho, and the scull wand could refer to voodoo magic, but Bob is Brazilian, he isn't connected to any of this.
Kurei is obviously an Alien in a sauser. Dougen is a shriveled old monkey. Isuzu is a faceless blade.
Mitsuomi and Fu Chi'en are represented as robotic killing machines (also pretty straightforward). Who's the skeleton? Another representation of Fu?
Maya is another mystery. She seems to be dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono and bound by linien sheets, but her arm is skeletal. What is Oh!great alluding to? Does he mean Maya is half-dead? Doesn't seem so. Any ideas?
And what do those crashdummy heads imply? Are they leading to Mitsuomi or Maya? Do they mean their followers that are just sacrificial meat to Souhaku? The Red Feathers?
The volume really intruduced interesting imagery. Mitsuomi and Souichiro as a two-headed lion that bites at itself?

The linien looks more like bandaids, gause for healing (if it were part of a dress, there would be an order to the way they are wrapped, it would look more neat). I still think she will live, one way or another, if not survive incapcitated for a while, she may still be possessed by Souhaku (or come back in some way by his doing). Check out the last line in chp 88. I think it refers to maya.MrProphet wrote: Maya is another mystery. of course the re-worked vol 14 may have some answers. there has got to be a reason he re-did so much of it.
I thought the last line of ch. 88 was alluding to Souichirou. Before he disliked Mitsuomi, because he was opposing Maya. Now it seems that he might actually hate Mitsuomi and under the right circumstance might seriously consider killing Mitsuomi. Inue may try to nurture that and turn Souichirou into a killing machine.
We'll have to wait for the answer I guess. The extras added to volume 14 are awesome though. Some of it appears to be done by his assistants. There's style differences. Whoever did the demon dragon form, of I'm guessing Souichirou, did an awesome job. The design screams "I'm a badass motherf@cker and I'll eat you alive."
I'd be a bit surprised if Aya's supposed to imply "drama queen"...MrProphet wrote:I liked the panel where the characters are represented as marionettes, pulled by the unseen arms (of Souhaku, I presume). I like the 凶 character on Nagi's forehead.
I was wondering for a bit if the was a chess thing going here - eg Queen, Bishop etc. But none of the others map in obvious ways.
Shin, perhaps...Mitsuomi and Fu Chi'en are represented as robotic killing machines (also pretty straightforward). Who's the skeleton? Another representation of Fu?
I think Maya just has puppet arms (and hands). It's just with her, you can see them fully. The wrappings around her chest look like typical "warrior woman" style.Maya is another mystery. Hmm... Many possibilities. And what do those crashdummy heads imply? Are they leading to Mitsuomi or Maya? Do they mean their followers that are just sacrificial meat to Souhaku? The Red Feathers?

thank you Mr. Prophet, I've downloaded it and will take a look. I don't think I'll translate it, although if someone would point out what pages are new I'll post a translation of the text. Maybe someone can take my vol. 14 translation and the new text and work a new edited translation. It isn't something I'm interested in doing though.
Also, I'll be running some sort of contest for the alternate volume 14 cover, I just haven't figured out what yet.

Wow, I can't belive how much he added, especially to the young Makiko and Souhaku part. We must not have been the only ones confused by his original chapters. Should be interesting to see what this adds to the story. Looks like he's trying to use the ladybug theme again, remeber before when Nagi's mom was talking to him he saw the world from the pov of the ladybug. It seems in the Maya/Tetsuhito the ladybug was representing Aya. I wonder whose new power we see Tetsuhito use is? Turning guys into balls of flesh, interesting.
Souhaku was still a teenager at that point, so I don't think that Tet's had the dragons' put into him already. Could be the Kagiroi family's technique, he used it on zombie Fu if I remember correctly. Stepped on him when Fu was talking to Masataka. Aya was using the ladybug to activate Reiki. She actually was able to take it over, probably using the same technique that Makiko used on Souichirou. Don't think he showed that in the UJ versions. Must have wanted to close that plot hole.

This isn't the first time Oh! great has done this sort of thing. I don't recall it happening on Tenjou Tenge before (not that I've checked) but it certainly happened with Devil. New scenes/pages were added and dialogue changed for the collected volumes.MrProphet wrote:WOW... what the hell? Oh!great changed A LOT of images, and if I am not mistaken, some of the story.

I'm in Taiwan right now, and picked up my copy at Animate Taipei on Sunday. After going through it, I'm compelled to applaud Great Sensei. Excellent showmanship on his part adding all that new material so we can get our money's worth. I haven't had the chance to read in detail the text, though.
Judging from the Pg 165-166 spread in Fight 86, Maya might very well not survive...
Err, Kagiroi doesn't have a family technique. And the technique he used on Fu was a leg technique. I initially thought that Souhaku was a teenager as well, as he was wearing the same jacket as in that flashback with Makiko. But note the tattoos spreading from Tetsuhito's eye. That had to have taken place after he took her eye. Apparently there IS a Dragon Ball technique. Oh, and those guys he was turning into meatballs were from the Mawari branch family, Enjyaku, BTW.EliteF22 wrote:Souhaku was still a teenager at that point, so I don't hink that Tet's had the dragons' put into him already.
