Who is your favorite character NOW?
Moderator: FuguTabetai
I was gonna introduce myself in the introduction thread, but then I saw this, and so I voted.
I voted for Aya, and I'm going to give my reasons why:
1. Aya is persistant and dedicated.
Seriously. She's got dedication. She honestly believes that she love's Nagi, and with that she has a goal. And that goal is that one day Nagi will return the love that she gives to him on almost a daily basis. Now I understand why some would call her many explisitives for not realizing that there is a *MUCH* better guy right under her nose, and Masataka is the better guy, but its not about getting the better guy, its about getting the one you love. In that regard her conviction is much more superior to Masataka who just continues to rely on his nice guy persona to win over the girl. You are not going to get what you want by wishing and hoping.
Its just like what Dock Ock's wife said in Spiderman 2. Love doesn't just happen. You gotta work at it.
2.She is loyal to her friends.
I have yet to see her betray any of her friends or acquantances. Unlike her older sister, who was hunting Shin's Katana group when she was the same age as Aya.(Even though it was to get back at her brother, its still betrayal.)
3.She believes in Nagi
Nagi would have been my second choice. Not because I feel sorry for him, but because he has a goal. To be the strongest. For his mother, and for his friends, and for Maya. Aya understands this, and has decided to back him, and have faith in him 100%. She understands how he feels for Maya, and still backs him. Other girls would have given up. *See #1.*
Why I didn't vote for Maya or Masataka
Maya is a good leader when it comes to training and fighting, but her long term goals a pretty sketchy. Plus she's manipulative, and I don't like girls who manipulate people to further their own gains.
Masataka is a nice guy. He's also a good fighter, and he is also cool headed(most of the time). However, he believes that he loves Aya, but has yet to do anything about it. He's a highschooler, (which means that he is subjected to the typical highschool teenage urges that we all go through) I'm more inclined to believe that he just wants to bone her.
Also is Kamura Shidzuru up there? She's my third choice because she's HAWT.

I don't know whether to say you are old fashioned or just sexist. Do girls not have teenage highschool urges and just want to sleep with guys? I've met tons of girls like that, so how can you not stick Aya in that same category or Nagi (not that he is a girl, just that he would also have urges)? Just because Masa doesn't going around moaning someones name over and over doesn't mean he does not truely love them. Some people are just more quiet about these things, especially when within the first day or so of meeting your 'true love', they referred to you as less than a man with no skill (see fight with Nagi) or something along those lines. Masataka wants to protect Aya and his friends, Nagi just wants to get stronger for his own selfish reasons.valkan wrote:He's a highschooler, (which means that he is subjected to the typical highschool teenage urges that we all go through) I'm more inclined to believe that he just wants to bone her.
Also, most people underestimate Masataka (hence all the 'oh he is so powerful' stuff in volume 12) and the full extent of his power is not yet known.
Well, if wanting to become stronger due to some semi-traumatic experience of having to take care of your beaten up mom is considered as being selfish, then hell... I think that's a good enough reason.
Personally, I think all of them have 'selfish' reasons in one way or another--but they aren't exactly wrong or stupid per se. I think so far, everybody has good reasons for what they're trying to achieve. It's just that some could've done better or used better methods.
That, or shit just unfortunately happened to them, like it was for Mataza. Which reminds me, it also seems to me as if Masataka is a bit hungry for his older brother to recognize his skill or something. Too bad Mitsuomi doesn't want him involved, and he seems to be more interested in Bob's potential instead.
Basically, almost everybody's goal is in some way revolving around the "wanting to be stronger" theme--even for a guy like Shin, and also for Aya who even refused to go to where Nagi was partly for the sake of getting better.
Not sure yet on Souhaku, and I'm definitely not going to comment on unmentionable characters such as the Ryuuzaki type or to those who haven't been fleshed out as the rest.

In my post, I said that Nagi wants to get stronger for his mother and Maya. Becoming stronger for anyone besides yourself is hardly a selfish reason.Masataka wants to protect Aya and his friends, Nagi just wants to get stronger for his own selfish reasons.

Edit: Sorry it looks like Kujoe made my point for me.

Aya can be annoying.EternalAniron wrote:I voted for Maya, i absolutely adore her.
My three faves would have to be Maya,Mits and Shin... power trio.. Mind you i like a lot of the other characters. I just personally can't stand Aya.
It be cool if Aya started to flip out like Shin, that would be interesting.
Then pick Masataka or Nagi to be with and actually go for it!!!

I voted for him. He'll make a comeback in the series. He'd damn well better do it.buemba wrote:Madoka, of course. It's hard to beat a little schoolgirl who carries enough weapons strapped in her legs to arm a small country.
I'm surprised Bob didn't get any votes yet - He was my fav. until the "f" members came along.
Most definitely Masataka. He has been my favourite character from volume one and he still pwns others whenever necessary. Would have to vote Bunshichi and Mitsuomi second. The Natsume sisters are quite appealing as well. Basically, I've grown to love all characters except Nagi. That cocky spoiled brat needs to die.
Thought I'd make an introduction thread but didnt know where to put it, so I guess ill introduce myself here.
Anyways I've always liked Tawara and nothings changed. I just wish Oh Great would put him in more often. A great laid back attitude, who only fights when absolutely necessary.
Second would have to be Masataka, mostly cuz I feel like i relate to him the most.

Man, no bob love. Although the only thing we seen him do was knock down a car with masa and do the vibration/ hearing attack thing, I still think there's going to be more to him later on. I mean If Mitsuomi is constantly interested in him every time he sees or even sense him around (hospital scene), there has to be more to him than what he's shown.
There would be no reason for him to be introduced the same time as Nagi if he was just going to be F***ked up in every fight he goes through. I just see him more as the average man that fights all these supernatural force, or whatever you may want ot call them.
1.Bob
2.Mits
3. Souichiro
4. Makiko (Sexy, sexy, one-eyed lady)
5. Maya

masataki has been my favorite character since volume 1 when he sweeped out bob and then at volume 2 when he was playing with nagi and then he did that dirty move and masa went crazy on him. No one else has yet to show a side that brutal when he almost smashed his head in.
but it sucked that in the anime they where killing masa into a ridiculous character by making him look as a perv and an idiot

Re: Who is your favorite character NOW?
First, please let me say sincerely thank you for all of your long and hard work on doing these translations. I, and many others, are in your debt.FuguTabetai wrote:Here is a second character poll. Vote away.
I voted for Takayanagi Masataka. To me, it is becoming more and more apparent that Masataka-san is going to be the "True Warrior" that his brother, Mitsoumi, was supposed to be. Aya's insights into his unique nature (via the Dragon's Eye), Mitsoumi's changing reactions towards him, his performance in battle against Madoka and the resurrected Fu'chien, and his noble behaviors towards Aya all are indications of this.
Time and time again we have seen the question appear in TT: "Why Do You Fight"?, and no one has any real, definitive answer, an answer that the "True Warrior" must have. Except for Masataka -- he fights because he loves Aya more than his own life. In this respect, he's a lot like Bob Makihara in respect to Chiaki, and I think that's a big reason why those two became good friends so quickly.
Again, thanks for all you do. I saw your request on another thread here about getting additional information on your full TT character list. I just finished re-reading the entire series to date and I should be able to help you out with that in a bit.

Spanking it all night to a video of her topless is noble?Swordfish II wrote:First, please let me say sincerely thank you for all of your long and hard work on doing these translations. I, and many others, are in your debt.FuguTabetai wrote:Here is a second character poll. Vote away.

Re: Who is your favorite character NOW?
LOL! Well, I don't think he was actually at it *all night*, although if he was, that right there would prove he's the "True Warrior", all right. In any case, if Aya responded to Madoka the same way she did earlier to Chiaki's advances, it was probably a very short movie.kk1 wrote:Spanking it all night to a video of her topless is noble?
Y'know, I did have that in mind when I posted before, and to answer your question, the short answer is "no". However, in this imperfect world, with it's imperfect people and fallible heroes, I still think that Masataka is destined for great things. I don't just think I'm projecting his success because I like the guy. Even the evil scumbag Souhaku appears to have recognized this, as he's sitting alone in his lair watching his charm that animated Fu-chien go up in flames (last two pages of Ch. 74), and sinks to the floor thinking, ""Takayanagi Masataka -- the 'True Warrior'?"
The truth is that all men masturbate; show me a guy who says he doesn't and I'll show you a liar. Men are, in the words of poet Albet Goldbarth, "Driven forward by that member that knows nothing of appeasement, only hunger". So I guess I don't hold it so much against him, especially since when Masataka is in Aya's presence, he does his utmost to be a gentleman. Masataka's infrequent surrendering to temptation just makes him human to me. But when Aya falls naked into his arms, as she has a few times now, he's got complete self-control. Check out the end of ch. 76 and tell me what you think. And what does he say to Aya then: "He couldn't even protect you!"
That is Masataka-san's most powerful attribute: he is somewhat unique in being absolutely crystal-clear about Why He Fights.
Cheers,
SF2

diferent things one thing is a man masturbate just for the plagure it gives another is masturbate thinking in the person u love seeing her images in the second case u are psycologicaly fuck her and that is a thing from a pervert it's true that every man masturbat but not all think in the person they love while doing that that is not ethical or noble is just dirty. i think masataka just want's to f**k aya nothing more. and i don't think masataka is the "true warrior" the true warrior in my opinion in nagi i think the one nagi loves is aya not maya he is just confused and when he realised the reason why he wants to become stronger for the one he is fight bla bla bla he will understand that is for aaya and he will become the true warrior
PS:i want to see nagi "the true warrior" and i want aya to end up whit nagi

OK, OK, already! Hey, I like Souichiro too, so if he ends up with Aya, all's well that ends well.Dgames wrote:PS:i want to see nagi "the true warrior" and i want aya to end up whit nagi
In time, we'll see. Sure wish Oh!Great would hurry up about it -- it's a long wait between chapters.
