What do you think about Kagome Kagome?

You can talk about random stuff here - for example, Yui Toshiki's Kagome Kagome, or just other random stuff.

What do you think about Kagome Kagome?

Post by FuguTabetai »

In general, it is a very average manga. The art is nice, and the story is pretty decent. The first volume is a bit slow... But it is good enough that I don't mind translating it.

By the way, even though it is by Yui Toshiki (a fairly well-known adult manga artist) this is not an adult manga...
Hardly even suggestive.

I'm still downloading it, but judging the images in the gallery, it looks interesting and I'm curious about it! :)

I'll say something after I read it. :)

well, it is pretty easy to translate at least. I went through another two chapters today. It is just so much less complicated than TJTG, Vulgar Ghost Daydream or even CapCom Gal's...

(I guess that is because it is pretty much a romance / ghost / comedy type thing?) Anyway. I'll put some more out next week.

I don't host files by HTTP. I just don't have the bandwidth. The IRC channel was moved, but when I checked into the temporary location, didn't look like anyone was around.

Maybe someone will be nice and offer up a HTTP mirror. But right now BitTorrent should be the fastest way to get Kagome Kagome. That might not be true in a few days though...

The art style, while a bit...'clunky' (I usually prefer a more fragile style, such as that by Ashinano Hitoshi), if you will, is interesting, and in parts it's really very appealing (chapter 6 / 155). Other pages (ch6/176) are just a glaring wtf, however.

The story's pretty straightforward - ok, I'd say.

so yeah. average. But makes for a nice read.

I found the first couple chapters to be a bit choppy, plot-wise (there were times that I thought I had missed a couple pages in mid-read), but once things got rolling, I found it to be a fun story.

Choppy plot? Clunky art? None of these present in my opinion.

I think the manga has the potential to build up a solid fan base. It'll just take some time for the "acceptance" to sink in. I know that I already like it.

On the whole, the manga should be a good read (afterall, we're only in volume 1, things should get more interesting as the chapters keep coming)

Besides, Fugu finds it easy to translate. That in itself should be a great boon since Fugu does all this as a hobby.

By the way, Kagome Kagome has been professionally released in Germany as far as I can tell. Which seems a bit odd to me; it only has 3 volumes (I only have 1+2, so I don't know if the story wraps up or what) and Yui Toshiki hasn't been doing manga since about 2001... But anyway.

I probably won't translate any more for a week or so - I have to scan in more stuff which is just boring, and I'm very busy now in Real Life.

real easy to translate though. I'm not sure why - doesn't have much furigana, but it is pretty simple conversation compared to other stuff I do.

Looks good. Now that I have the time, I'll definitely read it. So now there's Oh Great and Yui Toshiki...hmmmm. What a coincidence. :P

I've got volume 2, but I think they only came out with 3 volumes total. Well, I've been busy lately, but I do want to start doing some translation again. So you might see some of Kagome Kagome 2 coming up.

I guess I should note that I've scanned in some of Kagome Kagome v2, and translated up to chapter 13. I figure I'll just release the whole thing in one shot again, since I should be done sometime next week. It is easier than setting up separate torrents...

Volume 3 ...

Post by FuguTabetai »

So ... Kagome Kagome is over, series done. In a week or so, I'll package the whole thing up as a single torrent, and that will be it.

Personally, I really thought volume 3 brought a lot of stuff together, and overall the series turned out better than I expected.

Of course, I didn't initially think too much of the series, just thought it would be fun to do another modern day ghost story...

true, I got lost few times while reading the last volume yesterday. Never saw this ending coming. Overall it was very fun to read and I like it (beside the fact it is one of Yui's work)

Thank you for making this title available.

I think it could have gone for another volume or two. it sort of packed a lot of stuff into the ending it would have been cool to see more of demon Masami and the past of the kagomes.

id give it a 6 & 1/2 out of 10. average

It was average, I think. The art and storyline wasn't anything horrible, but it wasn't anything spectacular, either.
